A Career at the Crossroads of Law & Finance

For nearly 30 years at the crossroads of law and finance, I’ve seen a costly pattern: brilliant attorneys missing critical red flags that five minutes with the right numbers could have caught. I’ve seen liabilities hidden in a balance sheet triple overnight, positive net income mask negative cash flow, and accounting games inflate earnings. These oversights are what repeatedly derail deals and cost clients millions.

My career was forged in those high-stakes moments. As a former partner at Norton Rose Fulbright and Head of Restructurings at CAF - Development Bank of Latin America, I led complex transactions across three continents. I advised Fortune 500 companies in the technology, energy, and finance sectors, earning recognition from publications like Chambers and Partners and Legal 500. My education was rounded out with the TRIUM Global Executive MBA from NYU Stern, LSE, and HEC Paris.

A New Mission: The Attorney Acceleration Institute

Today, I have channeled that experience into a new mission. Through my own practice and as a Venture Partner at R3i Frontier Fund, I remain active in the world of cross-border deals. However, my primary passion is the Attorney Acceleration Institute, the platform I founded to provide lawyers with the finance, leadership, and business skills that law schools don't teach.

The Busy Attorney's Guide to Financial Statements is the distillation of these three decades of experience, designed to put an end to those financial blind spots. My goal is not to turn you into an accountant, but to make you fluent in the language of business so you can use it as a tool to win.

From my base in Madrid, where I live with my wife and family, I continue to advise and teach attorneys worldwide that understanding financial statements isn't optional; it's about survival.
